OS Patch (Patch View)

Introduction

The OS Patch (Patch View) page provides a centralized interface for managing operating system updates for Windows devices. Unlike the Computer View, which focuses on individual device updates, the Patch View allows for bulk management, enabling administrators to oversee patches across multiple devices efficiently.

Notes
Windows v3.8.0.7 and up Windows 7 and newer Windows 10+ cannot use the Windows API to set update policies.
Only Professional or higher editions can modify Group Policy for update control.

 

Instructions

Accessing OS patch (Patch View)
  • Log in to Gateway web console and navigate to Management > OS Patch > Patches.
  • The page will display lists of updates under various statuses: Pending, Approved, Failed, Installed, Ignored, and Expired.

 

Managing patches

The available actions vary depending on the tab. No actions are available in the Installed tab and Expired tab.

  • Tabs Representing Different Status:
    • Pending: Lists available patches awaiting action.
    • Approved: Patches approved for installation at the scheduled time.

    • Failed: Patches that failed during installation and can be retried.

    • Installed: Patches that have been successfully installed.

    • Ignored: Patches that have been excluded from installation.

    • Expired: Patches that can't be installed because they’re no longer available.
       

  • Available Actions:
    • Approve/Approve Again: Select patches and click Approve to move them to the Approved tab. These patches will be installed at the scheduled time.
    • Ignore: Exclude specific patches from installation by clicking Ignore.
    • Apply Patches: Install selected patches.
  • Actions by Tab:
    • Pending tab: You can Approve, Ignore, or Apply Patches for the pending patches.
    • Approved tab: You can Ignore, or Apply Patches for the approved patches.
    • Failed tab: You can Approve again, or Apply Patches  for the failed patches.
    • Ignored tab: You can Approve, or Apply Patches for the Ignored patches.
       
Filtering, searching, and viewing patches
  • Filters: Sort updates by:

    • Days since Release: <7 days, 7-30 days, 31-60 days, >60 days, and custom date range.

    • Category: All, Feature Updates, Security Updates, Critical Updates, Definition Updates, Drivers, Feature Packs, Service Packs, Update Rollups, Updates, Others.

  • Search:

You can search for patches by patch name, KB number, and category.

  • Viewing Patches: 

Click any patch to view affected computers. From the details drawer, you can perform bulk actions for that specific patch.

Limitation

OS patch records older than 3 months will be deleted. You can scan your computer again to obtain the latest patches.

  • This feature is available from Gateway v3.40.1 and later. 
  • This feature must be enabled in license settings to proceed. Please contact our support team if needed.
  • This feature can be turned on or off from the Team Settings page.
