Remote Print

With remote print, you can print files that are on a remote computer to a local printer.

Keep in mind you can only remote print if there is a currently active remote session, Splashtop remote printer will not show up if there is no active session

Requirements

  • Windows 7 or higher
  • Mac OS X 10.7 or higher 

Printing from remote Windows to your local computer

Remote Windows 10: 

Please make sure Splashtop Streamer is v3.4.0.0 or newer.

  1. Establish a remote session to the remote Windows 10 computer.
  2. On the remote computer, open any application and print as you normally would. In the print dialog box, choose Splashtop PDF Remote Printer and click Print.

  3. In a few seconds, a print dialog box will pop up on the local computer (where your Splashtop Business app is running). Choose the desired local printer and hit Print. That's it!
  4. If having any issues printing, please follow the steps below (Other Windows versions).

Other Windows versions: 

  1. Open Splashtop Streamer, go to the Settings tab, and click on Install Printer Driver.
    Note: you may need to disconnect and reconnect if making these changes through a Splashtop connection for the driver to take effect.

  2. After installing the driver, disconnect and reestablish a remote session to the computer. There will be a Splashtop Remote Printer which you could choose to print from.

  3. If printing to a local Mac, you will need to install an XPS reader on the local Mac. You can search for "XPS reader" in the Mac App Store to see various choices.

Printing from remote Mac to your local computer

  1. Open Splashtop Streamer, go to the Settings tab, and click on Install Printer Driver.

  4. In a few seconds, a print dialog box will pop up on the local computer (where your Splashtop Business app is running). Choose the desired local printer and hit Print. That's it!

Why am I getting an "Unsupported Printer Format" error?

If you are getting the following error "Unsupported Printer Format: The printer format used by the remote computer is not readable on this computer":

Some additional software will be required in order to print to your local printer.

Get the error on a local Windows computer:
Be sure Adobe Acrobat PDF reader is installed on the local Windows computer and set as the default PDF reader.

Get the error on a local Mac
You will need to install an XPS reader on the local Mac. You can search for "XPS reader" in the Mac App Store to see various choices.

Additional Troubleshooting

What if I don't want my users to print remotely?

The Owner of the Splashtop Business account can disable remote print for all users.

Log in to my.splashtop.com with the owner credentials. Go to Management > Settings. From there, you can disable remote print, file transfer, copy-and-paste, etc.
