Splashtop On-Prem app and Streamer on Windows takes advantage of supported hardware on your devices to enable hardware acceleration, which improves performances of the remote session and lowers CPU loading of your local and remote computers.
Requirements
- Splashtop On-Prem app for Windows v3.3.8.0 or later
- Splashtop Streamer for Windows v3.3.8.0 or later
How to enable hardware acceleration on Splashtop On-Prem app?
- Log in your Splashtop On-Prem app, click File drop-down list and select Options.
- Go to Advanced tab, select Enable Hardware Acceleration.
How to enable hardware acceleration on Splashtop Streamer?
Open Splashtop Streamer on the remote computer you remotely connect to, go to the Advanced tab, scroll down to find Hardware acceleration option. Check the option to enable it.
Supported Hardware
Nvidia graphics, AMD graphics, and Intel graphics.
Once the option is checked on Splashtop On-Prem app, it will leverage the supported hardware installed on your local computer to decode, which consequently enhances the performances in a remote session (up to 60 FPS with 1080P resolution and 30 FPS with 4k resolution) meanwhile lowers local computer's CPU loading as well (up to 100% saved).
Once the option is checked on Splashtop Streamer, it will leverage the supported hardware installed on your remote computer to encode the streaming data, so that'll help to get better performances in a remote session (increase FPS up to 50% or more in some cases) meanwhile lowers CPU loading on the remote computer with the streamer installed (up to 30% lower in some cases).
Note
- The performances in a remote session (FPS) are also influenced by other settings/factors, such as rendering options, streamer settings, network status, network bandwidth, etc.
